Term 4-
Literacy -
Writing - We will be focusing on functional writing this term, particularly information reports and explanations. We will also recap jotter presentation including cursive handwriting
Reading - This term will begin with a 6 week block of extending comprehension skills through a fiction novel (P4- The Queens Nose, P7 - Impossible Creatures) before moving onto digital texts/short stories using the online platform ‘Giglets’ that the children can access at home.
Numeracy-
In maths we will be furthering our knowledge on measure (length, weight, capacity) and data analysis (graphs,charts, tables etc).
In Numeracy each group will be revising strategies for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will then move onto time (i.e.digital, analogue, durations, time tables,calendars) and probability
Interdisciplinary Learning
This term our topic will focus on the scientific experiences and outcomes which cover Earth and Space. The children have already expressed a keen interest in the topic and some good background knowledge that we aim to investigate further. The topic will include Science, Technology and Expressive Arts..
Health Wellbeing
Responsible - We will be learning about how to access help and advice on how to make responsible choices. Included - I am learning to recognise when I need help, how to ask for it, and how to make sure everyone in my class feels included and able to take part P.E. - This term we will learn the skills required to participate in Orienteering activities.
Outdoor Learning
As well as a regular outdoor learning session each Thursday with Miss Bogucu. We will be using our outdoor classroom to enhance learning and explore different concepts across the curriculum. Special thanks to Wiston Lodge for allowing us to access their grounds.
Other Areas
RME – Significant Individuals French – Colours, Personal Information, Revision of all topics covered this session. Music - This term we will explore Funk, Reggae, Latin and Pop music units that blend listening, singing, playing, improvising, and composing

P7 Residential - Young Leaders of Learning visit from Glengowan Primary- World of Work Day- Sports Day-Stained Glass project completion- Biggar High Transition visits- Highland Show Visit
Skills Focus
Using our learning wall as a focus, pupils will look at the skills involved in each of our learning activities and how they link to the 4 capacities. At the end of the week, we will reflect on where they have demonstrated these skills. UNCRC – Articles of the Month
